Fred Holidays Rail Journeys has introduced an “indulgent” six-night Swiss Chocolate, Cheese & Chills package.
The package combines a stay in Montreux with rail excursions, tasty treats and a walk between two mountain peaks.
This no-fly holiday starts with a train journey from London to Geneva then onto the resort of Montreux for a six-night stay.
Highlights of the trip include:
- An excursion by rail to Chateau Chillion, a medieval fortress in a dramatic position on the shores of Lake Geneva.
- A scenic boat ride to Vevey to partake in a Swiss wine tasting, accompanied by a ‘planchette vigneronne’ featuring local sausage, cheese and bread.
- A train journey to Gruyeres to see how this eponymous cheese is made plus a visit to Maison Cailler, master chocolatiers.
- A trip to Glacier 3000, the highest peak in the region with the opportunity to attempt the ‘Peak Walk by Tissot’, the only suspension bridge in the world linking two mountain peaks.
- A rail journey along the beautiful GoldenPass Line in either Panoramic or Belle Epoque carriages.
- An optional train journey up to Rochers de Naye which offers a unique panoramic view of the Swiss and French Alps.
- An excursion to Lausanne with entry to the fascinating Olympic Museum with exhibits relating to sport and the Olympic movement.
There are regular departures in September and October with prices from £1,499 per person.
