Hosted by Jason Flesher, Scenic’s Director of Discovery Operations, this session features legendary explorer Robert Swan OBE, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles, and Sentinel Explorer Dr. Scott Pallett.
Listen as they share rare insights into life on the ice and how Scenic’s voyages deepen guests’ connection to Antarctica’s past, present and future.
In 1985, Robert Swan OBE began his South Pole journey after wintering near Scott’s Hut. He later completed his North Pole trek, earning the OBE and Polar Medal for his achievements and also founded the 2041 Foundation to protect Antarctica and promote climate action worldwide.
Robert Swan OBE will be joining the Antarctica’s Ross Sea: Majestic Ice & Wildlife sailing on 29th January 2026 in which guests will have various opportunities to get to know the legendary explorer.
Dr. Scott Pallett, along with fellow explorer Bill Kwok, form the Sentinel Expedition: an overland mission to study antimicrobial resistance (AMR) – one of the world’s most pressing global health challenges – in one of Earth’s most extreme and untouched environments.
Guests will sail alongside Dr. Pallett and Mr. Kwok as they prepare for their historic expedition, culminating in their departure from Ross Island on the 24-Day Ross Sea: Majestic Ice & Wildlife voyage on 6 January 2026.
