The three-day summit will bring together more than 200 global tourism leaders, ministers, industry experts and media, with discussions spanning artificial intelligence, technology, sustainability, investment, connectivity and changing traveller expectations.
Taking place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, the programme will feature an international line-up including Justin Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, who will deliver a leadership keynote, and Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, who will explore the future of Travel & Tourism in Europe.
For the UK travel trade, the summit will address key issues shaping the European travel landscape, including connectivity, changing consumer behaviour, digital transformation, AI and destination sustainability. Discussions will also explore how new routes, increased capacity and smarter transport networks can support future tourism growth.
As well as exploring the future of the global travel industry, the summit will provide an opportunity to showcase Malta’s tourism offering, with a dedicated ‘Why Great Chefs Choose Malta’ session – spotlighting the destination’s culinary identity.
The summit comes as WTTC projects that Travel & Tourism will contribute €3.6/£3.1 billion to Malta’s economy in 2026 – a 43.5% increase on 2019. The sector currently contributes 16.6% of Malta’s GDP, with one in five Maltese jobs dependent on Travel & Tourism.
Tolene van der Merwe, Director UK and Ireland, Visit Malta, said:
“We are delighted to welcome the WTTC Global Summit to Malta. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our destination to leading voices from across the global travel industry, while putting Malta at the centre of conversations that will help shape the future of tourism.”
The summit will conclude with WTTC and Malta Tourism Authority leadership reflecting on the key themes emerging from the event, before the host destination for the 2027 WTTC Global Summit is announced.
