Qatar has announced the construction of a brand new Grand Cruise Terminal.
In an official statement, Qatar Tourism said that the country continues to expand its cruise offering as it welcomes an influx of travellers.
The new Grand Cruise Terminal will be located in central Doha, near the Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif.
The terminal will have the capacity to host two megaships and will offer various attractions, including an aquarium and an art gallery.
The agency also said that Qatar is set to welcome between 220,000 and 250,000 passengers over the course of the 2022-2023 cruise season.
Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, Berthold Trenkel, said: “Qatar has a wealth of fantastic tourism offerings that bring to life the rich culture and impeccable hospitality of our country.
“We’re thrilled to continue expanding our cruise offerings and experiences in Qatar and welcome travellers from around the world to experience the best of the Middle East all in one easily accessible place.”
Qatar is also undergoing significant tourism development ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
A range of new resorts has opened including Zulal Wellness Resort, the largest wellness destination in the Middle East and a Fairmont and Raffles hotel.
At Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami, Qatar Tourism will be profiling Doha’s new Grand Cruise Terminal as well as Emerald Cruises’ new superyacht, Emerald Azzurra.

Emerald Azzurra will be offering eight-day itineraries from Doha beginning January 2023 with stops at Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi; Khasab, Oman; Fujairah, UAE; Zighy Bay, Oman; and Dubai and vice versa.
At 110 metres in length, the superyacht can accommodate 100 guests with a Sky Bar, observation deck and lounge, a wellness area, an infinity pool and a marina platform.
Pre and post-cruise tours are available including a three-day package to explore the sites and culture of Qatar.
Visitors can also take a trip into the desert and visit the Inland Sea, enjoy dune bashing and a camel ride.
At Seatrade Cruise Global, Qatar Tourism will be located on stand 408.
