Ponant’s New Ship Le Bellot Christened In France

Ponant has christened Le Bellot, its fifth ship in the Ponant Explorer series on May 21 in Honfleur, France.

In attendance was Godmother, Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre, writer and winner of the Grand Prix de l’Académie Française for The Last of Our Kind.

Also in attendance was the Editor-in-Chief of Point de Vue magazine who is also one of the Board of Directors of Ponant.

Live music by the Finistère Regional Orchestra accompanied the christening ceremony.

Other guests of honours in attendance were Hervé Gastinel, CEO of Ponant and Christophe Buisson, town counsellor, Tourist Office President and Vice-President of the Community of Communes du Pays de Honfleur-Beuzeville.

Michèle Prevost, Joseph-René Bellot’s great-grandniece and Captains Maxime Benoit and Quentin Dubois were also present.

The ship has sailed for the American continent and is scheduled to reach Canada in September.

A new generation of ships flying under the French flag and fitted with the latest technologies, the Ponant Explorers series comply with the most recent environmental regulations.

The series has also been awarded the Cleanship label and offers 92 staterooms including four suites with glass windows and private balconies.

With limited capacity, ships in this series can accommodate up to 184 guests and 118 crew members.
