Fred. Olsen’s Balmoral Departs For 2023 Grand Voyage

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral has set sail on a 2023 grand voyage, marking the start of the first of three 2023 grand voyages for the cruise line.

The ship arrived in Bermuda after leaving Portsmouth on 5th January for a 78-night ‘Exploration of South America and the Antarctic’ cruise.

During the circumnavigation of South America, Balmoral will be calling into Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and for the first time in Fred. Olsen’s history, the Antarctic.

Guests will have the chance to learn to dance in Buenos Aires, the birthplace of the Tango, or spend time with a Gaucho cowboy on ranches in Argentina and Uruguay.

On the call into Port Stanley, guests will be joined by war veteran Simon Weston MBE, who will share his experience of time in the Falklands.

Next month, Borealis will set sail on an ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ cruise sailing from either Liverpool or Southampton.

The itineraries will follow as closely as possible in the footsteps of the fictional explorer Phileas Fogg.

This includes opportunities to see Japan’s cherry blossoms in full bloom or visit the tomb of Tutankhamun on the 100th anniversary of its opening.

Guests can also join one of two shorter sailings – a 26-night sailing from Southampton to Singapore, cruise through the world-famous Suez Canal and visit the Elephanta Caves in Mumbai.

Also available is the 53-night sailing from Singapore to Southampton where guests can discover farmers’ markets in Hawaii, the street food and architecture of Hong Kong and Japan’s Samurai heritage at Fukuoka and Osaka Castle.

In November, Bolette will set sail on a 93-night ‘The Intrepid Beauty of Africa and the Indian Ocean’ cruise.

Guests can spend four days in Cape Town, South Africa, visit Goan spice and tea plantations in India or climb the sand dunes of the world’s oldest desert Namib.

Martin Lister, Head of Destination Experience and Itinerary Planning at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines said:

“We’re incredibly proud of all of our grand voyage itineraries, each is hand-crafted with a selection of truly exceptional highlights, from a chance to visit the Taj Mahal, to witnessing the impressive modern cityscapes of Singapore and bustling markets of Mumbai.

“Our smaller ships allow us to truly venture away from the well-trodden tourist path and delve deeper into the history and culture of some truly fantastic ports.

“Guests currently on Balmoral’s 78-night adventure have chances to visit the Galapagos islands to spot native wildlife, cruise the world-renowned Panama Canal, witness the rugged icy landscapes of Antarctica, explore the ‘Lost City of the Incas’ on an overland tour to Machu Picchu, and even cruise the Chilean Fjords.”
