Flybe Placed Under Administration

UK airline Flybe has ceased operations and is placed under administration.

On 28 January 2023, the High Court appointed David Pike and Mike Pink as Joint Administrators of Flybe Limited (“Flybe”), the company said on its website.

All flights to and from the UK operated by Flybe are cancelled and will not be rescheduled. 276 staff members have been made redundant.

Passengers have been told not to go to the airport as flights won’t operate.

Flybe operated flights on 21 routes to 17 destinations across the UK and Europe with a fleet of eight leased Q400 turboprop aircraft.

A Reuters article states that this is the airline’s second collapse in three years and that the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) would provide advice and information to affected passengers.

Flybe was once the UK’largest regional airline, carrier, with approximately 2400 people in 2020.

UK airlines Ryanair, easyJet and British Airways have announced discounted fares for all affected Flybe passengers.
