Royal Caribbean has selected research astronaut Kellie Gerardi as Godmother of Star of the Seas.

The 90th woman in history to fly to space, Gerardi is a payload specialist, researcher, children’s book author and devoted mother who inspires millions of people daily.
She will participate in the maritime tradition of blessing Star during a celebratory naming ceremony at its year-round homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, on Aug. 20, 2025.
Star will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean getaways with stops to Royal Caribbean’s top-rated private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
She will begin her year-round schedule of week-long sailings in the Caribbean beginning Aug. 31, 2025.
Guests will be on the edge of their seats with the boldest entertainment at sea with five signature shows across stage, air, water and ice, including the cult-classic movie turned instant-hit musical “Back to the Future: The Musical.”
Foodies can satisfy their taste buds with next-level dining experiences at more than 40 spots to dine and drink, including an elevated, multi-course dining journey at the Chicago-inspired Lincoln Park Supper Club.
Plus, iconic thrills and unrivalled ways to chill are on deck across eight neighbourhoods that are destinations in themselves, from Category 6 waterpark’s six waterslides to laidback vibes at seven pools.
Star will also be the company’s third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and feature a proven lineup of industry-leading environmental programmes. With applications ranging from waste heat recovery systems to shore power connections, Star will advance Royal Caribbean Group’s journey toward introducing a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
The brand is also set to deliver its fourth ship powered by LNG with Legend of the Seas, the third Icon Class ship set to debut in 2026.
