Lisbon has been named Europe’s Best City Break Destination at the World Travel Awards 2025, reaffirming its status as one of Europe’s most captivating short-stay destinations.
This marks the sixth time Lisbon has received the accolade, voted for by tourism professionals and international travellers. The awards ceremony took place on 22 October in Sardinia, Italy.

This recognition reflects Lisbon’s consistent efforts to promote and enhance its tourism offer, the result of close collaboration between public and private sectors.
It also underlines the city’s ongoing commitment to raising quality standards, from the restoration of heritage sites and enrichment of cultural experiences to the promotion of gastronomy and wine.
Particular emphasis has been placed on developing wine tourism and signature cuisine inspired by traditional Portuguese flavours, ensuring Lisbon’s growth as a destination remains sustainable and balanced.
