Departing 31 July 2027 aboard the purpose-built Sylvia Earle, the 11-day voyage invites travellers to explore some of the Arctic’s most photogenic landscapes.

Designed to go beyond traditional sightseeing, these photography-focused voyages prioritise extended time off-ship, small group experiences and access to rarely visited locations, supported by hands-on guidance from world-leading photographers.

Special Guest Photographers include:

Scott Portelli – An award-winning wildlife, nature and underwater photographer, Portelli is globally recognised for his conservation-driven storytelling. His work, featured by National Geographic, BBC and Australian Geographic, explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, bringing a powerful environmental lens to the expedition experience.

Peter Eastway – A leading Australian landscape and travel photographer, Eastway has spent more than three decades shaping the photographic industry. Founder of Australia’s Better Photography Magazine, his work has been exhibited and published internationally, and he is widely respected for his technical mastery and artistic approach to light, composition and visual storytelling.

David Vargas – An award-winning photographer and art director with over 20 years’ experience across more than 40 countries, Vargas is known for capturing authentic moments in remote and unpredictable environments. Recognised by National Geographic, his work blends technical precision with powerful storytelling, underpinned by a conservation-first approach.

Wayne Sorensen – An internationally recognised landscape and wildlife photographer, Sorensen is known for his fine art approach to capturing the natural world. His work—spanning Antarctica, the Subantarctic, Siberia and beyond—has received accolades from institutions including Australian Geographic and the Natural History Museum of London.

Together, they will host onboard workshops, image reviews and in-field guidance, helping guests refine technique, composition and storytelling while immersed in the Arctic.

Exploring East Greenland’s dramatic Scoresbysund, the world’s largest fjord system, the voyage offers a constantly evolving photographic canvas of towering icebergs, shifting Arctic light and vast, untouched landscapes.

Guests will have opportunities to photograph wildlife, including whales, seabirds and musk oxen, alongside immersive Zodiac cruises and onshore excursions designed to maximise time in the field. In Iceland’s remote Westfjords, rugged coastlines, waterfalls and volcanic terrain provide a striking contrast to Greenland’s icy wilderness.

With small group sizes, flexible itineraries and one of the most comprehensive activity programs in expedition travel, AE Expeditions continues to offer immersive experiences that combine exploration, education and creative development in some of the world’s most remote regions.

Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens departs 31 July 2027 for 11 days aboard Sylvia Earle, with fares from £11,386 per person (twin share).
