Amadeus River Cruises’ newest flagship vessel, Amadeus Cara was officially christened on 29 June on the banks of the Rheine.

The naming ceremony was attended by Godmother Anna Lüftner, Director of Digital Marketing for Amadeus River Cruises.

The 135-metre Amadeus Cara can accommodate a maximum of 163 guests and offers “the highest levels of comfort and culinary delights”.

On board, there are a variety of bar areas with the best views of the river landscapes including the River Terrace at the bow, the Amadeus Club at the stern, Café Vienna in the lobby area and the Panorama Bar with dance floor.

There is also a spacious sundeck featuring a lounge that can be fully utilised even on stretches of river with low bridge crossings, as well as a wellness area with massage and a fitness room.

Amadeus Cara was also awarded the Green Award for its trend-setting technology with an ultra-modern engine that significantly reduces CO2 output and state-of-the-art air filter system which ensures hygienic air in the interior.

The ship was built at the TeamCo Shipyard in Holland and will cruise under the German flag on the Danube – as far as the Danube Delta – and on the Rhine.

The ship’s inaugural voyage departed from Cologne on 2nd July and will travel via romantic Rüdesheim, to Wertheim, Würzburg, Bamberg and Nuremberg as well as Regensburg to Passau in Bavaria.
