The first phase introduces 21.6 kilometres of clearly signposted routes, all centred around the Galatzó Public Estate, in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range.

This marks the opening chapter of a wider plan that will gradually extend across the municipality, with a strong focus on hiking, nature, and the preservation of Calvià’s rich natural and historical heritage.

Under the banner “Beyond sun and beach,” the initiative aims to position Calvià as a compelling year-round destination, appealing to travellers seeking authentic outdoor experiences.

Together, the four new itineraries showcase Calvià as a natural Eden of forests, valleys, and centuries-old rural landscapes.

Peguera – Es Capdellà || 5.8km (Easy)

Linking coast and countryside, this low-difficulty route follows ancient paths that once connected fishing villages with inland settlements. Starting from the beach resort of Peguera and finishing in the traditional village of Es Capdellà, the trail winds through pine forests, cultivated land and alongside the des Gorg stream.

Along the way, ramblers encounter striking reminders of Mallorca’s turbulent past, including the Son Vic Vell estate with its 16th-century defensive tower, and the Torre d’en Boira, a 14th-century watchtower built to protect the coastline from pirate attacks. It’s a gentle walk rich in both scenery and storytelling.

Sa Vinya || 6.5km (Easy to Moderate)

Set within the Galatzó Estate, this route follows historic agricultural paths once used to link the estate’s main houses with surrounding farmland. The trail offers a window into traditional mountain life, passing stone terraces, charcoal kilns, a bread oven, and historic water systems.

Together, these features illustrate how generations of Mallorcans worked in harmony with the landscape, practising sustainable land use long before it became a modern-day buzzword.

Font de Sa Cometa || 3.4km (Easy)

Ideal for families, this circular walk stays entirely within the Galatzó Public Estate. The route passes through olive groves arranged on dry-stone terraces, pine woodland, and Mediterranean scrub before reaching the Font de Sa Cometa, a natural spring set on a hillside overlooking the valley below.

Documented as far back as the 17th century, the spring is a fascinating example of traditional Mallorcan hydraulic engineering. Its qanat system, inherited from the Islamic period, was used to capture and channel groundwater to nearby estate houses.

Along the route, walkers will also spot lime kilns and charcoal pits, offering further insight into the region’s rural past.

La Vall Verda Route || 5.9km (Easy)

Accessible and varied, the La Vall Verda Route (Green Valley Route) takes walkers through an ever-changing patchwork of pine forest, holm oak woodland, streams and cultivated fields. Highlights include panoramic views across the Calvià valley, the summit of Puig de Galatzó (one of the area’s most prominent mountain peaks), and La Mola de s’Esclop, a distinctive flat-topped mountain on the Tramuntana skyline.

The trail also passes two historic rural estates: Son Vic Vell, dating back to the 15th century, and Son Cabot, built in 1598, both excellent examples of traditional Mallorcan architecture. With gentle gradients and clear signage, it is ideal for ramblers looking to enjoy nature at a relaxed pace.

This new hiking network represents just the beginning of a broader vision for Calvià. As further routes are rolled out across the municipality, visitors will be able to explore Mallorca’s rural heart through a growing web of well-marked trails.

It is an invitation to discover the island’s quieter side, where dramatic landscapes, cultural heritage and outdoor adventure come together all year round.
