Chile Relaxes Entry Rules For Tourists

Chile has announced new, simplified measures for tourists entering the country.

From September 1, fully vaccinated visitors will no longer need to provide a negative PCR test or complete the C19 form before entering the country.

Unvaccinated travellers only need to provide negative PCR tests taken 48 hours before departure.

The announcement was made by Chile’s Minister of Health, María Begoña Yarza, and the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Kunze.

The Minister said: “From September 1, non-residents who enter the country will need proof of vaccination issued in the country where they have been vaccinated, in addition to identity documentation.

“Visitors without up-to-date vaccinations will have to do so with a negative PCR issued within a maximum of 48 hours. This will guarantee safety on the flight and in the country.”

The Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Kunze, welcomes the announcement and removal of the C19 declaration:

“Our border control processes have been improved to make it simpler for tourists who have had vaccinations to enter the country.

“It is no longer necessary to complete the C19 declaration. This will make Chile more competitive as a tourist destination in the international arena.”

The Undersecretary added that these changes were also “supported by the high rate of vaccination in the population.”
