SeaTrek Sailing Adventures is inviting adventurers to join its 10-day cruise to see the Jewels Of Raja Ampat for Christmas 2023.
Departing on 18 December 2023, guests can set sail on two traditional, UNESCO-heritage Indonesian wooden pinisi sailing ships on a 10-day voyage through these spectacular islands over Christmas 2023.
Guests will sail to the southernmost islands of the Raja Ampat National Park with its picturesque chain of jungle-covered limestone islets where spectacular corals reefs offer fantastic snorkelling.
There is the chance to swim in a mysterious stingless jelly fish lake, visit sea caves filled with massive stalagmites and stalactites, and see 3,000-5,000-year-old prehistoric caves painted on the walls with human figures, flowers, and fish.
They can trek through the forest in search of the elusive Lesser Bird of Paradise dancing around in their ‘lekking’ trees and take a dawn trek to spot the rare Red Bird of Paradise.
There’s a jungle walk and refreshing waterfall swim, plus a visit to a pearl farm to see how this precious commodity is produced and harvested.
In Central Raja Ampat, the group will see how a local village is promoting sustainability with its solar-powered streetlights and practicing sustainable fishing through a collective community effort.
Abundant marine life in the area includes the wobbegong shark, the humphead wrasse, schools of giant trevalley and resident hawksbill turtles.
On Christmas day, guests can go snorkelling on a colourful coral reef, followed by lunch and an island excursion.
There’s more afternoon snorkelling before Christmas evening cocktails on the two boats and a huge Christmas feast with all the trimmings.
