With the release of “green list” destinations, Portugal has emerged as the most popular place to search for a package holiday this summer.
The Algarve dominates the holiday search, followed by Madeira and Lisbon.
Many airlines have ramped up flight capacity by offering new flights this week from many UK airports.
Alternatively, holiday searches for Turkey and Maldives both dropped as they were placed on the red list for when the international travel ban is lifted next week.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays confirmed that they will stick to their delayed resumption of flights and holidays on June 24 despite a surge in bookings to Portugal.
Chief executive Steve Heapy said: “We have seen enormous pent-up demand from holidaymakers for some time now, and this rush of bookings to Portugal just shows how ready people are to get away from the gloom to escape to the sunshine.
