The Cruise Globe, a new digital platform allowing travellers to accurately map out their cruise history, has revealed new data naming Cozumel as the number one choice of port for cruise super fans both in 2025 to date and over the last decade.
Having only recently launched in February 2025, the platform has amassed over 33,000 users.
With over 220,000 cruises having already been logged in The Cruise Globe, this new dataset offers a glimpse into what cruise super fans are booking including most popular origin ports, key routes of interest and preferred cruise line.
Cozumel has topped list in both 2025 and the last decade, with Nassau in the Bahamas (646 visits), Fort Lauderdale (592 visits), Miami (583 visits) and Port Canaveral (537 visits) as the remaining ports in the top five logged cruise destinations for this year to date.
Cozumel City Council recently announced that the city had set a new cruise tourism record this year, following a successful start to the sailing season. 1,502,727 cruisers visited in the first three months of the year, with further hopes to break the record by hosting five million cruisers by the end of 2025.
Emma Le Teace, co-founder of The Cruise Globe and avid cruiser with 77 cruises under her belt commented:
“It is no surprise that Cozumel is the most popular cruise port among our snapshot of cruise super fans. The port’s close proximity to the Mayan ruins makes it easy for travellers to see the area plus Cozumel is also a gateway to the Caribbean’s 13 independent nations and 7,000 spectacular islands!”
The Cruise Globe has recently unveiled a series of heat maps which depict the exact route of every cruise logged by its 33,000 strong database of cruise fans across five of the most popular ports over the last decade.
Using AIS satellite ship tracking data, the maps detail the exact route taken by each of the ships, down to finer details including missed ports, diversions and unexpected changes in course due to weather.
P&O, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises top the charts as the cruise lines of choice by super fans when tracking their cruises this year.
