Cruise ships are set to return to the Port of San Francisco for the first time in 19 months, after it was first closed due to the pandemic in March 2020.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed said that the return of cruises is “another example of our city coming back to life and emerging from this pandemic stronger than ever before,”
The Port of San Francisco is expecting 21 cruise ships through the remainder of 2021 and a new record of 127 in 2022, the mayor said.
The arrival of ships sailing into town is hoped to give the city’s economy a much-needed boost, with more than 6000 people arriving when the largest ships dock.
