CruiseCopenhagen has launched a campaign to encourage year-round visits from cruise lines in 2022.
An official statement released yesterday said: Cruising in the shoulder season and off-season is beneficial for both cruise lines and cruise guests.
As part of the campaign, CruiseCopenhagen will be adding a new microsite to its webpage and a list of benefits for visiting Copenhagen in the shoulder season and off-season.
The benefits, according to the statement, include port discounts, less crowding at the port and overall improved experiences for travellers and locals at the city’s must-visit venues and attractions.
Visitors can also enjoy Copenhagen’s unique atmosphere and events that only take place in autumn, winter and at Christmas.
“There are many advantages of cruising in the shoulder season. Besides port discounts and more space at both the port and at the attractions, it’s more sustainable to spread out tourism throughout the year.
“Based on our experience, we know that most guests have an overall better time in Copenhagen when the attractions aren’t too crowded,” says Claus Bødker, Director of CruiseCopenhagen.
Seasonal events are also held during these times such as Culture Night, floating Santa Lucia, winterjazz and The Copenhagen Light Festival.
“Fall and winter are the absolute prime seasons for the Danish concept of “hygge”. There is no better time of the year to experience the cosy atmosphere of Copenhagen,” added Claus Bødker.
Copenhagen’s biggest annual one-day event, Culture Night takes place in October and November, with more than 250 museums, theatres, libraries and other venues offering exciting evening events and tours.
Travellers can explore Tivoli Gardens, which will be decorated for both Halloween and Christmas.
In December, the city of Copenhagen will be illuminated by beautiful Christmas lights and exciting events will take place at various venues throughout the city. Guests can look forward to the floating Santa Lucia, kayaks decorated for Christmas sailing through the canals.
In January, it’s time for the big January sale and visitors can take home a few pieces of world-famous Danish designs.
In February, two big festivals will take place including winterjazz and the Copenhagen Light Festival.
