Demand for UK Cruise Sailings Soar

A year after the pandemic sent the cruise industry into chaos, it seems as though the time has come for them to finally bounce back.

Days after the announcements of several cruise liners redeploying their ships to UK waters for sailings around the coast, travel agents have reported positive sales of domestic cruise bookings for the summer.

With “staycations at sea” being a safe option for customers it begins to build a level of excitement for cruisers. Interest has arisen from not only regular cruises but also those new to cruising.

Hays Travel chief operating officer Jonathon Woodall said the UK’s largest travel retailer had set up extra helplines and online registration to meet demand for domestic cruises. Woodall said the sailings were a “huge opportunity” and advised agents to focus on ships’ onboard facilities to “bring that to life”.

This is a delight to see after the tough year the cruise industry has had and we hope they continue strong for the foreseeable.
