Emirates Ramps Up Newcastle Operations As Demand Continues

Emirates has introduced a fifth weekly flight to Newcastle. The airline said in a statement that the additional service has been introduced to meet the demand for international travel.

The airline also said that it has been seeing a “steady uptick” in bookings over recent weeks.

The most popular destinations from Newcastle following the easing of travel restrictions include Dubai, Bangkok, Phuket, The Maldives and Sydney.

Flight EK034 departs Newcastle at 21:10 arriving in Dubai at 07:25 the following day with flights leaving Newcastle on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Newcastle continues to be served by Emirates’ wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft, fitted in a two-class configuration split between Business and Economy.

By October, Emirates will serve the UK with 110 weekly flights across seven UK hubs including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow.

Richard Jewsbury, Emirates Divisional Vice President in the UK, commented:

“Scaling up operations to Newcastle will provide even better connectivity to the North East and we’re thrilled to be adding more capacity.

Bookings to Dubai and beyond have been steadily growing and our forecasts expect this trend to continue over the peak summer period and beyond.”

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle International Airport, said: “Emirates is a significant contributor to the North East economy and plays an extremely important role in providing connectivity between the region and the world.

Operating from Newcastle International Airport since 2007, Emirates has carried millions of passengers and billions of pounds worth of cargo into and out of the North East – supporting a multitude of businesses.

“The re-start of a Saturday service marks an important milestone in restoring Emirates daily service from the North East’s largest airport, and shows what confidence Emirates has in the airport, our passengers and the region.”
