In recognition of the best achievements in sustainable tourism and green transition practices across the region, the European Commission is organizing the European Destination of Excellence 2022 competition.
This year, the annual competition, which has been held since 2007, has been redesigned by considering the previous assessment and the ability to defend against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tourist destinations in Europe are asked to demonstrate best practice against the assessment criteria which will be evaluated by an independent panel of experts. The registration deadline is until June 16 and the winners will be announced in November.
Winners will be positioned as pioneers of sustainable tourism who are committed to the goals of the European Green Deal and will receive European branding support throughout 2022.
