France has declared a mandatory quarantine period for arrivals from Britain due to the increasing prevalence of the Covid-19 variant first detected in India.
Austria and Germany have already banned direct flights and tourist visits from the UK. With Germany imposing a two-week self-isolation for anyone entering from the UK.
France has not specified how long the quarantine period will last.
British tourists had been due to be allowed to visit France without restrictions from 9th June if they have proof of having the Covid vaccination or a negative PCR test.
France is currently on the UK’s amber list of destinations.
