Fred. Holidays Rail Journeys has added three new itineraries combining a Star Clippers tall ship sailing with epic rail journeys.
The itineraries will take place on the luxury Al Andalus, affectionately known as ‘The Spanish Palace on Wheels’, and the stunning Hiram Bingham, a Belmond train in Peru.

Rome to Malaga Sail & Al Andalus Luxury Rail: A 22-night holiday starting with an 11-night cruise from Rome to Malaga onboard Star Clipper with calls in Elba, Lerici, Monaco, St Tropez, Mahon, Palma, Ibiza, Cartagena and Motril.
This is followed by four nights in Malaga before boarding the Al Andalus for a six-night luxury rail journey to Seville with stops in Granada, Linares/Baeza, Ubeda, Cordoba, Ronda and Jerez.
Upon disembarkation, there is an overnight in Seville before flying home. Departure on 14th October 2023 with prices from £8,449 per person.
Al Andalus Luxury Rail & Canary Islands Sail: A 20-night holiday starting with an overnight stay in Seville before boarding the Al Andalus for a six-night luxury rail journey to Malaga with stops in Jerez, Cadiz, Ronda, Cordoba, Ubeda, Baeza and Granada.
There is then a four-night stay in Malaga before joining Star Flyer for a nine-night cruise from Malaga to Gran Canaria calling in Gibraltar, Tangier, Cadiz, Safi, Arrecife and Puerto del Rosario.
Upon disembarkation in Gran Canaria, there is a transfer to the airport for the flight home. Departure on 21st October 2023 with prices from £7,799 per person.
Costa Rica Sail & Machu Picchu Luxury Rail: Sail on board the four-masted Star Clipper ship, before heading into South America to see and stay at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Machu Picchu.
Travel on board the Hiram Bingham, a Belmond Train, a locomotive decked out in homage to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in 1920s décor with an ambience to match.
This 16-night trip starts with a two-night stay in San Jose, Costa Rica, before embarking on a seven-night cruise round trip from Punto Arenas onboard Star Clipper with calls in Quepos, San Juan del Sur, Playa Panama, Bahia Potrero and Islas Tortugas.
Upon disembarkation, fly to Lima for a two-night stay in a five-star Belmond property including a guided tour.
After another short flight to Cusco, transfer through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to another five-star Belmond property for a two-night stay before boarding the Hiram Bingham for a luxury rail journey from Rio Sagrado station up to Machu Picchu.
Stay overnight at the five-star Belmond Sanctuary Lodge with time to explore before boarding the Hiram Bingham back down to Cusco for an overnight at another five-star Belmond property.
Following a half-day tour of Cusco, transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK. Departures on 4th January and 1st February 2024 with prices from £9,899 per person.
