HolidayPirates Reveal 2022 Holiday Trends

85% of Brits want to holiday abroad this summer, said HolidayPirates.com.

New consumer research into 2022 holiday trends has revealed that just 15% of Brits plan to holiday in the UK this summer.

The travel deals platform also said that this data reflects an “even greater shift” from the height of the pandemic in 2020 when 55% said that they were planning to take a domestic holiday.

Data from the HolidayPirates survey* also found that:

  • 37% of Brits said that they took no holidays at all in 2021.
  • 74% will go on a beach holiday. Top destinations include Greece, mainland Spain, the Caribbean, the Canary Islands and Turkey.
  • 27% would like to take an adventure holiday in the UK.
  • Cost is a priority, with 42% saying that they will spend under £500 for a week away and 37% saying that they will spend between £500 and £1,000.
  • Budget-friendly, all-inclusive deals are most favoured, with 41% saying they intend to holiday this way.
  • A vast majority favour hotels over any other types of accommodation – with only a quarter saying they are choosing a holiday home.

Phil Salcedo, Head of Market UK & North America stated: “People are ready for a holiday, and the vast majority want something more than a staycation this year.

“Whether as a reward after such a long period of confinement, or having saved more during that time, people were looking to Europe and way beyond for their holiday plans.

“Travel is rebounding strongly for this summer, with an unquenchable desire to travel internationally.

“But there’s no doubt that there is pressure on budgets, and with this top of mind, HolidayPirates has become the go-to platform to find the best deals.”

*HolidayPirates own consumer research, surveying 1,063 British people.
