Icelandair will offer either three or four flights a week to Edinburgh. Initially planned as a seasonal service, the route has now been upgraded to year-round due to strong reception from customers.

The route will be operated by a Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft, with a flying time of 2 hours 20 minutes to Edinburgh, and 2 hours 35 minutes back to Keflavik.

The flight times for the route ensure that passengers can connect seamlessly onto Icelandair’s extensive global network, with the airline serving 18 destinations in North America, playing a vital role in bringing Iceland to the world and vice versa.

The route launches following the 80th anniversary of Icelandair commencing flights to Scotland this year, a journey that began a legacy of connecting the two great countries as part of the airline’s first international service.

Edinburgh becomes Icelandair’s second Scottish route to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, joining Glasgow and further strengthening the airline’s presence in the region.

Edinburgh is a city where history and creativity unite. Famed for its iconic castle, winding medieval lanes, and graceful Georgian architecture, it also plays host to internationally acclaimed festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe.

With a thriving arts community, a storied literary tradition, and striking surrounding landscapes, Edinburgh seamlessly blends old-world charm with contemporary style.

It’s the fruition of years of hard work from both sides, and we’re delighted to welcome this newest airline to Scotland’s capital – and to mark the inaugural flight by announcing the service will now extend year-round is fantastic news.
