The hope of a summer holiday remains high for everyone, but how confident are people about booking and travelling on a holiday this summer and beyond?
Over half (52%) of respondents continue to feel confident – the highest reported level in 2021. Just one in four (27%) say they do not feel confident – the lowest this figure has been in 2021.
Jet2holidays and Jet2.com conducted a polling with hundreds of UK adults on a range of topics, including consumer confidence.
The data showed that confidence stepped up significantly in early March, and has remained strong in recent weeks. Positive developments, such as the UK government’s ambition to reopen travel, the successful vaccine rollout in the UK, and Tourism Ministers in overseas destinations saying that they will welcome UK holidaymakers this summer have all had a positive impact.
On the back of positive announcements in destinations such as Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal and Turkey, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays saw immediate and dramatic increases in bookings, showing the desire and confidence that people have when it comes to getting away and enjoying a well-deserved holiday this summer.
In response, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have increased capacity to a host of destinations for this summer including the Canary Islands, Mainland Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “Our polling shows that customers continue to look ahead with real confidence when it comes to taking their much-needed holidays.”
