With warm, sunny weather, turquoise waters and a vibrant island culture, it’s the perfect place to switch off and embrace the relaxed rhythm of island life.

Off-peak perks

In comparison to many European hotspots that peak in visitor numbers in July and August, the summer is considered off-peak in Barbados.

This means fewer tourists, a calmer pace, off-season deals and brilliant value on flights and accommodation.

For families in particular, the summer is a great opportunity to enjoy a luxury holiday without the hefty price tag.

Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord’s Castle, is offering a ‘kids under 12 stay free’ promotion through June, making it an ideal time for families to head on a tropical island escape.

Even with it being off-season, the island remains atmospheric year-round, and you are never too far away from a lively celebration.

In fact, Crop Over, Barbados’s famous carnival, takes place during late July and early August, with plenty of fun-filled activities on offer to cater to all ages and encourage visitors to truly experience the brilliant Bajan culture.

Beautiful beaches

Barbados is renowned for its expansive white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and swaying palm trees. And with a fresh coconut cocktail never too far away, a trip to the beach is one of the best ways way to spend a relaxing day in Barbados.

In summer, it’s the island’s South and East coast beaches that particularly shine. Spots such as Carlisle Bay are perfect for snorkelling around shipwrecks, while Rockley (Accra) Beach is a great family-friendly spot with plenty of amenities for everyone to enjoy.

Plus, unlike the majority of Europe, all beaches in Barbados are completely open to the public and at no cost too.

Family fun

Alongside its easy-going atmosphere, Barbados is also packed with experiences that cater to both children and adults.

Those keen for an adventure can head underground to explore Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park by Chukka. Visitors will see firsthand impressive cave formations, venture along jungle trails and for any adrenaline junkies, a zip line across the park is a must-do activity.

For animal lovers, Barbados Wildlife Reserve is home to green monkeys, parrots and tortoises while the Atlantis Submarine offers an exciting underwater tour, and the Island Safari takes guests across dramatic coastal cliffs and inland jungle routes to spot island wildlife in their natural habitat.

And history enthusiasts can head on a day trip to St. Nicholas Abbey in the north of the island, where a scenic heritage train traverses through sugarcane fields and old plantation grounds.

With plenty of activities to choose from island-wide, those staying at Wyndham Grand Barbados can head to the on-site excursion desk where all the stress of planning a day trip is taken away.

Exploring

Being just 34km long and 22km wide, Barbados is a relatively small (but mighty!) island, with one main road running across the country.

Taxis are readily available with fixed zone-based rates, ensuring a journey from the Eastern side of the island to popular areas such as Bridgetown only costs ~£15-£20 each way.

Alternatively, local buses are very affordable at about £1.20 per ride or £38 for a seven-day unlimited bus pass, which is great for those wanting to explore all the island has to offer.

Exploring the island is simple, with various free shuttles in place at Wyndham Grand Barbados taking guests across the island to popular spots such as Harbour Lights, a vibrant beach club near Carlisle Bay, the island’s Capital, Bridgetown and the infamous Oistin’s.

Luxury Accommodation

While many European resorts offer smaller rooms and rely on pull-out sofas for family stays, Wyndham Grand Barbados is designed with families in mind.

Rooms are spacious, most with two queen-size beds and all with private balconies overlooking the lush grounds or the ocean. Plus, for larger families or those seeking additional space and privacy, the room features 150 connecting rooms.

Plus, as an all-inclusive resort, there are no hidden costs to worry about during your stay.

The price includes all meals, snacks, drinks and access to on-site facilities, from tennis courts to the kids’ club and a daily programme of events including beach yoga, SOCA dance classes and rum tastings, so there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Beat the crowds and book Barbados

Barbados offers hassle-free luxury, guaranteed year-round sunshine and fewer crowds during the summer, perfect for those looking to escape the chaos and settle into the relaxed vibe of island life. In Barbados, it’s easy to fall into the “beach – pool – rum cocktail – repeat” routine.

Prices for a 7-night stay for the whole family this summer start from £3,381 – based on two adults and two children sharing a Deluxe Double Queen Resort View Room.
