Grant Shapps has announced its new rules for international travel, with the traffic light system scrapped and from 4th October, a new simplified system will be in place.
8 Countries have been removed from the red list coming into effect from 4 am 22nd September including:
- Turkey
- Maldives
- Pakistan
- Egypt
- Sri Lanka
- Oman
- Bangladesh
- Kenya
From 4th October, pre-departure tests will no longer be required for fully-vaccinated travellers arriving into England from non-red list countries.
From “later in October”, the day 2 test for international arrivals will be replaced with a cheaper lateral flow test – ending the requirement for PCR tests.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “Today’s changes mean a simpler, more straightforward system. One with less testing and lower costs, allowing more people to travel, see loved ones or conduct business around the world while providing a boost for the travel industry.
