Loganair has announced an expansion of its Heathrow services to key regions of the UK for Summer 2024.

Shetland, Orkney, Isle of Man and City of Derry are all set to benefit from improved services with increased frequencies and new flight times coming this year.

Among the changes, the airline has announced:

  • A third weekly one-stop service to Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands
  • A second Saturday summer service to the Isle of Man
  • A third Sunday flight to City of Derry
  • Improved flight times on both the Isle of Man and City of Derry routes at London Heathrow
  • The return of twice weekly one-stop same plane services to Kirkwall on Orkney

The moves come as Loganair continues to expand regional connectivity in the UK, linking some of the country’s most remote communities with one of the world’s busiest travel hubs.

The popular Sumburgh-London one-stop same-plane service will resume in early March after a short winter break.

From 31 March, the service will increase to three flights each week, with departures in each direction on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, ideal for making onward connections to over 100 destinations worldwide via London Heathrow.

Also in the highlands, Kirkwall’s one-stop air service to London will make a welcome return in early March, and there will be two weekly flights during the summer to London Heathrow’s Terminal 2.

For customers in Northern Ireland, an improved timetable of flights connecting City of Derry and London Heathrow will also see three flights in each direction on Sundays – an increase to keep pace with demand.

Customers travelling from Derry will also enjoy more flexibility with the afternoon service departing at lunchtime, arriving in Heathrow shortly thereafter.

In the evening, the Heathrow-bound service will now depart City of Derry 40 minutes earlier at 5.30pm and the final flight of the day from Heathrow will also leave at a more convenient time of 7.45pm to arrive in City of Derry at 9.10pm.

Reinforcing its commitment to Isle of Man, Loganair will also boost its Ronaldsway-Heathrow connection with a new earlier arrival time into Heathrow, opening up a much wider range of same-day flight connections to North America.

The daily Heathrow service will now leave the Isle of Man at 9.45am and arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 2 at 11:20am, which means connections to the likes of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and Seattle are now possible.

A second Isle of Man-Heathrow flight will also run on Saturdays through the summer, offering an afternoon travel option in addition to the daily morning flight.

All Loganair fares include checked baggage allowance and, on flights of over 45 minutes scheduled time on Embraer and ATR aircraft, complimentary in-flight refreshments.
