PR and marketing agency LOTUS has been appointed to manage all UK PR activity for Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Shangri-La Rasa Ria is one of the most luxurious properties in Borneo’s Kota Kinabalu and part of the globally renowned Shangri-La portfolio.
The property first opened its doors in 1996 and features 499 elegant rooms and suites, a state-of-the-art spa, 10 varied dining options and an 18-hole championship golf course, Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club.
LOTUS will support the property with a robust media relations strategy as it reopens to international visitors.
The agency said in a statement that there will be a strong focus on increasing awareness and driving sales.
It will also work to establish Shangri-La Rasa Ria as a post-pandemic escape that promises “an environmentally conscious approach to luxury.”
While the UK will be the primary focus of the communications strategy, there will also be a component to expand its presence with Australian media.
At Shangri-La Rasa Ria, guests can learn about the indigenous long-tailed macaques, western tarsiers, bear cats and famous huge-eyed slow loris, as well as over 60 species of birds, 100 species of butterflies, pangolins, and a spectrum of native plants.
The hotel also has many initiatives to strengthen the local community, including a recently launched shuttle bus that takes guests to the heart of Kota Kinabalu’s villages to encourage guests to support local businesses and craftsmen.
