Malta Focuses On Couples For Summer Bookings

The Malta Tourism Authority has developed a new month-long trade initiative focusing on couples.

Trade trainer Peter Green said: “Last month, our focus was the over-50s market and now it seems the natural progression is on to the couples’ market. This is not necessarily heterosexual couples, this is also the LGBT community because we are a massive destination for that demographic, and includes pairs of friends travelling together.”

The Malta Tourism Authority is due to conduct agent training releasing a series of videos featuring tour guides on the island to highlight experiences available for couples.

Despite being excluded from the UK government’s green list, the Malta Tourism Authority remains optimistic that this will change at the next review in three weeks’ time.

60% of the population on the island has now received at least one dose of the covid vaccine, with one quarter receiving both doses. Additionally, this week has seen the opening of restaurants with restricted opening hours and a restart of non-contact sports.
