Mauritius to Reopen from 15th July

Mauritius is reopening to international tourists from 15th July. Currently on the UK’s amber list for international travel, will be opening in phases.

Travellers must first stay in one of 14 safe “resort bubbles” which have been specially set up.

Vaccinated travellers will be able to take a resort holiday on the island in the first phase, running from 15th July until 30th September. This is where holidaymakers will be restricted to their chosen hotel, using hotel facilities and resort beach only. After 14 days they can then explore the island.

Travellers to Mauritius aged 18 years or over must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must undergo a PCR test between 5 and 7 days prior to departure with a negative result in order to travel to Mauritius.

Travellers will also have a PCR test on arrival and on day 7 and 14 of their resort holiday.

If guests stay for 14 days or more and have negative PCR tests during their stay in the resort, they will then be able to leave the hotel and travel about the island freely for the rest of their stay.

Air Mauritius, Emirates and other airlines are adding capacity from 15th July, which will increase in the lead up to the islands full reopening on 1st October.

From then, vaccinated travellers will then be allowed entry subject to a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure, will then be allowed to explore the island with no restrictions.

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority chairman Nilen Vencadasmy said: “Mauritius is delighted to be welcoming international visitors from 15th July 2021 with our 14 unique resort bubbles that allow international visitors to enjoy a safe and secure holiday experience.”

“Mauritius has worked closely with hotels, airlines and tour operators to develop and prepare the resort bubble concept in advance of our full reopening on 1st October 2021.”
