Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr Ueoka who are the owners of the MW Restaurant and Artizen by MW in Honolulu have been appointed as executive chefs of Hawaiian Airlines on Monday (1/3). The two are tasked with overseeing the menu of the Featured Chef Series which is popular on aircraft carriers.
“Our Featured Chef Series has developed into a top-rated meal program celebrating the vibrant culinary scene and outstanding agricultural bounty of our islands,” said Renee Awana, Managing Director of Product Development for Hawaiian Airlines, in Honolulu, Monday (1/3).
Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr Ueoka became executive chefs of Hawaiian Airlines replacing Chef Lee Anne Wong, owner of Koko Head Café, Honolulu, who joined the Featured Chef Series in 2015 and has served as executive chef since 2018.
Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr Ueoka said they had experienced flying with Hawaiian Airlines since they were young, and it was great to have the opportunity to design meals on these flights today.
“Ueoka and I can’t wait to get started as an executive chef duo and the first husband and wife team at Hawaiian Airlines,” said Michelle. “After participating in the Featured Chef Series for nearly five years, it was an honour to be offered the role of executive chef,” said Ueoka.
