PLAY Launches Winter Sale With Savings Of Up To 51%

PLAY, Iceland’s low-cost airline is celebrating its two-year anniversary with a Winter Sale.

The sale will take place from 20 June to 4 July for flights between 5 September-18 October 2023 & 31 October-13 December 2023.

From London Stansted to Reykjavík, passengers will pay just £39 one way, 40% less than the current average ticket price for September flights (correct as of 19 June**).

From Liverpool John Lennon, travel to Reykjavík costs just £45, from Glasgow, £59, and Dublin, €69, granting savings of 31%, 38% and 33% respectively.

Passengers departing from all three UK cities can travel via Iceland on to Baltimore, Boston, Washington D.C. or New York from as little as £179, providing a maximum saving of 46%, compared to the average ticket price in September.

Passengers travelling from Dublin will pay from €139, providing the greatest saving of 51%.

The anniversary will come just two days after the launch of PLAY’s first route to Canada, its fifth route to North America, which will depart London Stansted on Thursday, 22 June.

Speaking of the airline’s success to date, Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, said: “PLAY takes pride in its simplicity, excellent customer service, competitive pricing, and an extensive route network.

“By strategically establishing a comprehensive network, we’ve been able to ensure connectivity to popular destinations, making travel more convenient than ever.

“The UK serves as one of the significant drivers for PLAY’s traffic via its hub.

“Among the UK airports, Stansted stands out as the largest contributor to PLAY’s operations in terms of passenger volume and connectivity to and from the UK.

“One of the key factors that sets PLAY apart is our commitment to offering competitive pricing.

“By adopting a low-cost business model, we’ve continuously been able to provide customers affordable fares, and our two-year anniversary winter sales is a further testament to that commitment.

Speaking about what’s to come, Jónsson said: “We are continuously evaluating new market opportunities and assessing the demand for additional routes and frequencies.

“This proactive approach has enabled us to maximise revenue potential and effectively utilise our growing fleet of aircraft and staff resources.

“That being said, UK and North America destinations are of course on PLAY’s list of new markets, so I am excited to see what the year ahead holds for us.”
