PLAY, the low-cost Icelandic airline will resume its regional route from Liverpool John Lennon for a second consecutive year.

Available from 1 September 2023 to 15 April 2024, customers can now fly from Liverpool to Keflavík, Iceland with connections to New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Toronto, Canada.

This seasonal service will operate twice a week, flying Monday and Friday with standard fares to Iceland starting at £99 return.

Passengers flying transatlantic from Liverpool will find tickets to the US from £540 and Canada starting at £600, bookable at flyPLAY.com.

PLAY is now offering a special rate until midnight on 13 September 2023 of £80 return flights to Iceland, departing Liverpool John Lennon, and onwards to USA and Canada from £350 return.

Last year, Brits made up the largest number of foreign tourists to Iceland, and PLAY’s Liverpool to Iceland flights will reopen an affordable route for Brits searching for Iceland’s majestic landscapes.

PLAY currently offers flights to five North American destinations, New York Stewart International Airport, Washington Dules International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, Baltimore Washington International Airport in the US and John C. Munroe Hamilton International Airport in Toronto, Canada.

These routes have a two-hour layover in Keflavík, with the option for extension free of charge to allow passengers the opportunity to add Reykjavík to their travel itinerary.

Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, said:  “In Iceland, we share Liverpool’s passion for music and football, which makes this seasonal route one of PLAY’s strongest with Icelanders visiting the UK, and our relaunch comes just in time for the restart of the Premier League season.

“This affordable route is also ideal for Liverpudlians heading stateside for Christmas or New Year and wanting to turn a stopover into a bucket list trip.

“Travellers can extend their layover for no extra cost and add on a day trip to see Iceland’s Geyser National Park, or swim in our warm lagoons.”
