Royal Caribbean Group Donates To Seaman’s Mission In Norway

Royal Caribbean Group has confirmed a donation of $40,000 to the Seaman Mission in Norway, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it visits.

The Seaman Mission, a vital organisation dedicated to providing care and support to seafarers from around the world, will use this donation to enhance its services and facilities.

Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, said during a visit to Seaman’s Welfare Centre in Ålesund:

“Seafarers play a crucial role in the global maritime and cruise industry, and we are honoured to support the Seaman’s Mission in Norway with this donation.

“I’m continually inspired by the innovation, dedication, and teamwork of our skilled maritime professionals.

“I am especially proud of the commitment and passion of Celebrity Cruises’ crew who exceed guest expectations each and every day, creating memorable vacation experiences worldwide.”

The new funding will support all crew who visit Norway’s Seafarers Welfare Centres every year in Ålesund, Bergen, Honningsvåg and Stavanger.

The money will be allocated to various initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for seafarers.

The donation will help provide welfare services free of charge, as well as support various enrichment and recreational activities that will help reduce stress, foster teamwork and camaraderie, and allow seafarers to learn about different cultures and traditions.

Monica Molvær, Deputy Mayor of Ålesund, said:

“The cruise industry is very important for a coastal community like Ålesund.

“Having a place for the seamen and crew to relax and unwind, as the Seaman’s Mission offers, is essential. We are very pleased that Royal Caribbean Group continues to support these centres.”

“The Seafarers’ Welfare Centres are intended to be a home away from home for the crew,” said Pål Vigmostad, Chairman of The Norwegian Seaman’s Mission.

“Everything we provide is free of charge for the crew, and we are deeply grateful that one of the world’s largest cruise companies is taking such significant responsibility in covering the costs of operating these centres for all seafarers visiting Norway.”

Through its SEA the Future platform and ongoing collaborations with local organisations, Royal Caribbean Group is committed to Sustaining the Planet, Energising Communities, and Accelerating Innovation in every place the company visits.
