Royal Caribbean Receives First CDC Approval For US Simulated Sailing

Royal Caribbean International has received CDC approval to conduct a simulated voyage with volunteers from 20th to 22nd June aboard the Freedom of the Seas under the Conditional Sailing Order.

This requires the cruise line to meet a number of conditions prior to the sailing date. The voyage must be conducted with at least 10% of the maximum number of passengers permitted onboard.

“After 15 months of hard work and collaboration, today’s approval of our simulated cruises is the latest promising step in our path to return to sailing in the U.S. We look forward to welcoming our crew, loyal guests, and supporters from around the world this summer,” said Royal Caribbean in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

Freedom of the Seas is expected to operate from PortMiami.

All volunteers for test cruises must be over the age of 18, passengers are not required to be vaccinated against Covid-19, however, if they aren’t, they must provide written documentation from a health care provider or must self-certify that they aren’t at a heightened risk for Covid-19.
