Spooky Halloween Holidays in Guernsey

Discover Guernsey’s most haunted hot spots and history this Halloween!

One of the spookiest places across the British Isles, Guernsey has a haunted past, filled with ancient witchcraft, demonic dogs and ghostly figures.

The following locations are guaranteed to send chills down any thrill lover’s spine.

Guernsey’s Haunted Nazi Underground Military Hospital

Occupied by the Germans from 1940-45, Guernsey is home to many relics from WW2. One such relic includes its German military hospital, established in underground tunnels.

These tunnels have been rumoured to host the ghosts of enslaved British soldiers, who were enlisted by the Nazis to construct this labyrinth of a hospital, and around 20 soldiers later died due to mistreatment.

It is consensus that many of these poor souls still wander the halls, and were spotted once the hospital was opened as a tourist attraction.

Witchcraft in St Peter’s Port

Around the town of St Peter’s Port, printed on a number of doors, ‘magic marks’ or symbols can be seen, relating to witchcraft.

Supposedly there are a number of these on Cliff Street, intending to ward off menacing spirits.

Cliff Street, legend has it, is also home to Guernsey’s infamous ‘demon dog’, who wrapped in rattling chains, wanders the streets with glinting red eyes.

To even witness such a beast was rumoured to bring bad fortune.
