The Number of Air Travellers to the US is Growing Again

The US aviation industry is starting to grow again even though it has not fully recovered from the pre-pandemic level. This indicator can be seen from the number of international air travellers who came to Uncle Sam in March much more than in January.

CheapOair, an online travel agency that specializes in providing cheap travel tickets, noted that the demand for international air tickets to the US in March had grown 65% compared to January.

The largest increase in the number of air travellers to the US came from Israel, which reached 154%; Bahamas 119%; India 87%; Mexico 74%; Germany 69%; Italy 44%; Costa Rica 43%; France 42%; Colombia 31%; and Great Britain 27%.

“Those numbers are really good news. We all know that COVID-19 caused a drastic drop in the number of international travellers booking flights to the US last year,” said Glenn Cusano, Co-CEO and CFO of Fareportal, parent company of CheapOair and One Travel.

It is well known that the arrival of foreign tourists is not just enlivening the airport, but also growing the domestic economy. Hotels, restaurants, tours, attractions and retail sales will benefit. “Tourism is more than just airline tickets,” said Cusano.

The growing number of foreign travellers to the US cannot be separated from the rampant vaccination programs in various countries, as well as in the country. The latest CDC data shows that 32.6% of Americans have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
