Trafalgar has expanded its recently-launched river cruise portfolio with two new Christmas Market itineraries: Danube Christmas Markets and Rhine Christmas Markets.

After announcing its first river cruise tours earlier this year, these wintertime voyages showcase Trafalgar’s signature style of enriching, locally connected travel – now set against the timeless charm of Europe’s most beloved holiday markets.

Danube Christmas Markets Tour
This 8-day festive sailing along the Danube River from Budapest to Vienna immerses guests in the seasonal traditions of Central Europe. Aboard the 128-passenger Trafalgar Reverie, guests can relax in boutique hotel-style comfort, enjoy locally inspired cuisine, and partake in festive onboard activities.
Along the way, guests will explore the iconic markets of Budapest, Bratislava, as well as those in the Austrian city of Linz and Germany’s picturesque Passau.
A true highlight is the exclusive Be My Guest experience with head brewers Tomas and Mario at DOCK7, one of Bratislava’s most renowned microbreweries.
Here, guests are invited to discover the artistry behind traditional Czech-style lagers, rich dark beers, and distinctive local ales.
During the tasting, Tomas and Mario share their deep passion for craft brewing, which uses a unique blend of innovation and Slovak heritage.
Other standout experiences include a festive Taste of Christmas walking tour in Vienna, where guests explore the heart of the city before tasting seasonal treats at the Christkindlmarkt.
In Passau, guests will stroll through cobbled medieval streets with a Local Specialist, discovering grand baroque architecture and vibrant facades.
The optional guided tour through Salzburg enables guests the choice to follow in the footsteps of The Sound of Music, visiting iconic locations from the beloved film.

Rhine Christmas Markets
From the medieval charm of Basel to the soaring Gothic spires of Cologne, this 8-day Rhine River journey captures the magic of Europe’s most iconic holiday markets.
Market highlights include Strasbourg’s enchanting Christkindelsmärik, Heidelberg’s picturesque Old Town, and Cologne’s world-famous Cathedral market.
In Rüdesheim, guests are welcomed by the Breuer family for a Be My Guest lunch at their traditional weingasthaus in the heart of the Drosselgasse.
Set to the backdrop of live music and local wines, this experience offers a taste of regional specialities and heartfelt hospitality passed down through generations.
A MAKE TRAVEL MATTER™ experience at Weinessiggut Doktorenhof offers a deeper connection to the land, with an intimate look at artisanal vinegar making and sustainable farming traditions.
