Travel Hub Chiefs Back Covid Passports

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are considered to be two of the major travel transit hubs in the world.

Over the last year, the number of passengers transiting has dropped significantly and the head of Dubai Airports has backed the use of Covid passports believing they are the only way to restart mass foreign travel.

Some argue that they discriminate against those who cannot get vaccinated.

The Covid crisis saw annual passenger throughput fall 70% to 25.8 million last year from 86.3 million in 2019.

The United Arab Emirates saw its economy contracted by 6.1% in 2020 amid the global slowdown.

UAE has vaccinated 60% of the country’s population and is on track to be among the first nations to vaccinate most of its population.
