Travelsphere Unveils Royal Geographical Society Collection

Travelsphere celebrated its newly established partnership with the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) at an exclusive event held at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington, London.

The evening brought together more than 200 guests, including media, travel agent partners, customers and key industry stakeholders, to mark the collaboration and the Royal Geographical Society Collection tours.

Following VIP access to the RGS archives, attendees heard from Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Touring, the parent company of Travelsphere and Just You, who spoke on the transformative power of travel.

They then enjoyed a panel discussion, hosted by Travelsphere ambassador, travel writer and broadcaster Penny Smith, which further explored the impact of immersive travel experiences.

Panellists included Bruce Poon Tip, Adam Kemp, managing director of Travelsphere and Just You, Jamie Owen, licensing and commercial partnerships manager at the RGS, and Lyn Hughes, founding editor of Wanderlust Travel Media.

Bruce Poon Tip said: “This event was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible knowledge that the Royal Geographical Society brings to this partnership and to celebrate the coming together of two organisations, bound together by the belief that travel can be a force for good.

“Through this partnership, we can show the history and past of a destination, adding depth to the experience. We can draw from historical archives and make the experience so much richer for our guests.

“Purposeful travel is about connecting travellers with a destination and the richness of travel is rooted in exploring new opportunities and developing a greater understanding of what connects us as travellers. This is community tourism in action.”

During the panel discussion, Jamie Owen said: “At the Royal Geographical Society our focus is on the advancement of geographical science and therefore we wanted to approach this collaboration from a position of transformational travel – something that perfectly aligns with Travelsphere and their ethos.

“We’re always looking at ways to showcase our collections more widely and this partnership with Travelsphere does just that, with the emphasis on deeper, more meaningful connections with the places people visit.”
