TUI has put an additional 1,500 hotels on sale across 22 destinations for UK guests for summer 2024 following strong bookings across seasons.
The new hotels come as TUI saw normal booking patterns return in January, a hugely popular booking month. The hotels feature heavily in popular spots like Greece, Canaries and Balearics and are operated from more than 20 regional airports across the UK. Morocco and Tunisia had an uptick in bookings as great value destination options with a variety of regional flying options and resorts, said the company.
TUI said May half term is so far the most popular week to book a holiday as families took advantage of free kids’ places on offer.
Family resorts sold particularly well for summer 2024 as TUI saw people lock in their room types early and spread their costs.
The company said all-inclusive resorts continue to outperform any other board type across all regions but there was a slight increase in self-catering products for the summer, particularly in Yorkshire, Cardiff and Glasgow making up around 7 per cent of bookings.
Despite cost-of-living pressures, TUI said customers are opting for shorter stays rather than downgrading on hotel rating as four and five-star properties are most popular across the UK. It also said that customers are mostly opting for 10 and 11-night stays instead of 14-night durations.
Shorter durations are proving popular with the flexibility provided by third-party flying and TUI’s expanding city offering. Four and five-star resorts remain most popular across all regions of the UK.
Recent research has shown that city breaks are nearly as popular as beach breaks with Brits, and Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam and Krakow are really standing out as popular city destinations booked for TUI.
Andrew Flintham, Managing Director at TUI UK & Ireland commented:
“The additional hotels on sale for next summer is testament to positive bookings we’ve seen across seasons. Appetite to travel is stronger than ever and we are continually focused on offering our customers more flexibility and choice than any other provider.
“We can do this with our unrivalled regional flying programme from 20 regional airports across the UK, strong hotelier partnerships, our growing TUI cities programme and our owned concepts like TUI Blue.”
