New figures from the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro show that British travellers recorded 376,725 overnight stays between January and July, confirming the UK’s place as one of the destination’s most important source markets.
Compared with the same period of 2019, arrivals from the UK were up 102% and overnight stays up 90%. The growth is even stronger against 2022, with arrivals rising by 114% and overnight stays by 108%.
In just seven months, Montenegro has already received almost as many British visitors as it did in the whole of 2019, when it welcomed 80,873 UK arrivals.
The latest results build on steady growth over recent years. In 2025, Montenegro welcomed 118,746 visitors from the UK, who recorded 598,849 overnight stays. That represented 47% more arrivals and 42% more overnight stays than in 2019, and 57% more arrivals and 54% more overnight stays than in 2022.
British visitors stay an average of around five nights, showing that they are choosing Montenegro for a proper holiday rather than a short visit.
Connectivity between the UK and Montenegro is set to strengthen further in 2027, with three new direct routes making the Adriatic destination more accessible than ever.
easyJet will launch Scotland’s first direct connection to Tivat on 29 March 2027, with twice-weekly flights from Edinburgh operating on Mondays and Thursdays, opening up opportunities for travel beyond the peak summer season.
The airline will also introduce a twice-weekly service from Birmingham to Tivat from 3 May 2027, while Jet2 will launch weekly flights from Leeds Bradford on 10 May, running until 27 September 2027 and offering Yorkshire holidaymakers a new direct gateway to Montenegro.
These additions will complement an established network of direct flights from across the UK to Montenegro’s two international airports.
On the Adriatic coast, Tivat is served by British Airways from London Heathrow; easyJet from London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol and Manchester; and Jet2 from Birmingham, Manchester and London Stansted.
Meanwhile, Podgorica Airport, serving the Montenegrin capital, offers connections with London Stansted via Ryanair and London Gatwick via Wizz Air.
