Maritime Minister, Robert Courts inform a group of MPs that UK cruise lines will be able to restart sailings from 17th May.
Almost all cruises worldwide ended a year ago as the coronavirus pandemic took hold. A Foreign Office warning against travelling on international cruises has been in force since early March 2020.
The move is restoring confidence in the cruise industry, although exact measures that passengers can expect are yet to be confirmed, it is likely that they will follow closely to the ‘roadmap’ announced, “the restart of domestic cruises in England will be aligned with the wider resumption of the domestic tourism and indoor hospitality sectors”.
A number of cruises have indicated they will only allow passengers who have completed a course of vaccinations to board.
