Vueling: 60 Tons Of C02 Emission Saved This Summer

Vueling, in a statement, said it had prevented the emission of 60 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere as part of its strategy to drive the daily use of sustainable fuel in its aircraft.

Following the integration of the Avikor service at the end of June, passengers can make a small contribution so that this type of fuel is supplied when they fly.

The airline said that over 40,000 passengers so far have decided to contribute to this initiative that helps to supply sustainable fuel.

During the first three months after the launch of this initiative, Vueling supplied over 20 tons of sustainable fuel in its flights and has saved 60 tons of emissions.

The airline said this equates to 12 flights between Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

Vueling has provided the same amount of sustainable fuel as each passenger who has decided to contribute, thus doubling the volume supplied.

The airline has prevented the emission of 60 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere during this period.

Last June, Vueling and Exolum, a leading company in liquid product logistics in Europe, launched the Avikor service at checkout.

This allows the airline to offer passengers the option to make a small contribution, on a voluntary basis, so that sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is supplied on the same day of their flight.

With the widespread use of this fuel, which is currently still in development, CO2 emissions into the atmosphere can be reduced by up to 80% compared to conventional fuel.

It acts as one of the main alternatives to decarbonising the aviation sector.
