Vueling Plans Full Digital Distribution By 2024

Vueling has initiated a development plan for its digital platforms and its Application Programming Interface technology (API).

The airline said that the plan will help to articulate its distribution strategy around two main objectives:

To offer the best product, service and price in its direct channels (website, app and mobile), and to encourage agencies and consolidators to buy through its direct New Distribution Capability connection.

Vueling says it has been a “digital native airline” since its creation. Since 2008, it has offered an API connection to agencies.

This was further complemented in 2018 with the parallel development of the NDC connection according to the standard defined by IATA.

With the highest quality standard as a priority to its partners, Vueling prioritises the development of its NDC technology to converge to the latest version shared by IATA, 21.3.

As a result, the airline will offer improved services adapted to the needs of each agency, bringing benefits on both sides within the value chain.

Vueling also said that it will be the first airline with a 100% digital distribution target by 2024.

The airline is preparing initiatives to accompany its partners in the choice of the best indirect digital channel.

It is proposing an improved offer compared to the traditional GDS channel, unique content and service for those connected through NDC Direct and the Vueling Agencies portal, as well as the implementation of specific payment methods (BSP Cash through IFG).

As part of this distribution strategy, Vueling will continue to position its own main channels (website, app and mobile) distributing the best offer.

The airline will implement several initiatives during 2022, including content and promotions available exclusively on www.vueling.com, app and mobile (routes, fares, services) or specific discounts for mobile.
