Western Australia To Welcome International Travellers From February 5

Western Australia will reopen its borders on February 5 to interstate travellers and international travellers after 2 years of isolation, according to an article published on ABC.net.au.

According to the article: WA’s Premier, Mark McGowan announced at a news conference in Perth that its borders would drop at 12:01am on Saturday, February 5.

The decision was made as the state’sdouble-dosevaccination rate reached 80 per cent.

Following the reopening on February 5, travellers into Western Australia will need to provide proof of full vaccination.

International travellers will not need to quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated but will need to test negative for the virus before departure and on arrival and on day six.

Unvaccinated international travellers will still need to quarantine in a state-run facility for two weeks. There will also be a cap on unvaccinated arrivals into the country.

These requirements will apply to anyone aged 12 and over unless they are ineligible or have a medical exemption.

Proof of vaccination will also be required for entry at nightclubs, the casino, WA’s four major sporting stadiums and at events with 1,000 or more patrons.

Mask-wearing will only be required for public transport, taxis and ride-share services, airports and on flights, visitors to hospitals, residential aged care, residential disability care, and custodial corrections facilities.

A new mobile phone app is currently in the works, which is scheduled for public use in January for QR check-ins and proof of vaccination.
