What’s New For Bath In 2023

What’s new for Bath in 2023? Guests can expect exciting new openings, hotel refurbishment plans and upgrades and a brand-new wellness festival for the city.

 

New Openings

Bath Abbey Discovery Centre

A brand-new discovery centre will tell the story of Bath Abbey’s fascinating history. Due to open spring 2023.

Cleveland Pools

Following a soft launch last year, Cleveland Pools is set to fully open with heated water and a pontoon later this spring.

Seen on Screen

2023 will see the release of Bridgerton season 3 and the Bridgerton spin-off based on Queen Charlotte’s life, with scenes shot in Bath.

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry with Jim Broadbent and featuring scenes shot in Bath will appear on the big screen in April.

The hugely anticipated Wonka starring Timothee Chamalet is due to hit cinemas next December – night-time shots were captured at various places around the city.

 

Events and Festivals

Belly Laughs 1-31 January 2023.

A comedy and food festival that brings smiles to faces, punters to independent venues, and money to local grassroots charities!

The Festival is coming to Bath for the first time, and £10 from every ticket goes to Julian House – a local charity that supports and empowers vulnerable and at-risk individuals whilst tackling the symptoms and underlying causes of homelessness.

ReBalance Bath – a brand-new well-being festival for the city 7 – 26 February 2023.

Bringing together venues, hotels, therapists, and practitioners for a three-week celebration of wellness and the city’s connections to thermal waters for local residents, city-centre workers and visitors to enjoy.

 

Hotel Updates

Homewood Hotel on the outskirts of the city is due to undergo refurbishment works to the spa and will be adding new guest suites in 2023.

The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa will be undergoing a refurbishment and relaunch of the restaurant, opening spring 2023.


Exhibitions

Painted Love: Renaissance Marriage Portraits at The Holburne 26 May – 1 October 2023

This is a major exhibition looking at the role of portraiture in the process of marriage in the Renaissance of Northern and Southern Europe.

Capturing Life: A Century of the New English Art Club at Victoria Art Gallery 21 January – 11 April 2023

Opening on 21 January at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, Capturing Life: A Century of the New English Art Club will showcase work by past and present members of the New English Art Club, an elected society of contemporary painters inspired by the visual world.

 

New restaurants and shops

Beckford Canteen

Overseen by George Barson (Ex River Cottage) featuring a modern twist on British favourites and sharing plates of Wagu beef.

Knoopschocolate

Due to open this spring at the bottom of Milsom Street serving expertly crafted chocolate drinks and marshmallows.

Atelier Ellis

A new interior concept store coming soon to Walcot Street.

A new Green King pub to open at the top of Milsom Street.
