Visa Information

Visa Requirements: The Visa Waiver Programme allows UK passport holders to visit the U.S.A. for 90 days. Travellers must fill out an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation or ESTA.

Recommended Travel Advice

  • UK citizens who have travelled to Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen on or after 1 March 2011, are normally not eligible for an ESTA visa waiver and will need to apply for a US visa.
  • Visa appointments at the US Embassy in London remain limited. In making an application, customers are strongly advised to plan as far ahead as possible before their date of travel.

Entry Requirements

  • As of May 12, 2023, noncitizen nonimmigrant visitors to the U.S. arriving by air or arriving by land or sea no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 
  • Travellers visiting the USA must make sure that their passports are valid for the proposed duration of their stay. No additional period of validity are needed on their passports beyond this.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Visa Information

Visa Requirements: UK passport holders are granted a free-of-charge visitor/tourist visa upon arrival in the UAE. No application in advance of travel is needed. The visa issued at the airport for British passport holders is valid for up to 40 days.

Recommended Travel Advice

  • Those planning to travel with any prescribed or over-the-counter medicines for personal use will need to meet the UAE’s specific requirements for the medicine to be allowed into the country.
  • Approval is needed from the UAE authorities for medication that the UAE classifies as narcotic, psychotropic, controlled or semi-controlled.
  • If there is no prior approval or the required documentation, the medication will not be allowed into the UAE and the traveller may be prosecuted under UAE law.

  • Thermal scanning is in operation at airports. Departing passengers may be subject to testing, quarantine and medical treatment in the UAE.
  • Passports must be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into the UAE.

Trinidad

Visa Information

Visa Requirements: UK passport holders do not need a visa to visit Trinidad and Tobago as a visitor. Visitors are generally given 90 days to remain in the country with possible extensions.

Travellers should check whether a yellow fever certificate is needed by visiting the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s TravelHealthPro website.

Entry Requirements

  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of arrival.
  • Travellers must be in possession of a valid return ticket and have sufficient funds for their stay in Trinidad and Tobago.

Cape Town, South Africa

Visa Information

Visa Requirements: No visa required for UK passport holders for tourism or business purposes for a period of up to 90 days.

Recommended Travel Advice

  • Travellers should check their dates of arrival in South Africa and make sure that they do not overstay.
  • There are special requirements for travelling to South Africa with children under the age of 18. There are different requirements for unaccompanied children entering South Africa, check the advisory from the South African Department of Home Affairs for more details.
  • Travellers should check whether a yellow fever certificate is needed by visiting the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s TravelHealthPro website.

Entry Requirements

  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of arrival with at least two blank pages.
  • At least 8 weeks before their trip, travellers should check the vaccinations and vaccination certificates that they may need on TravelHealthPro.

Fuerteventura, Spain

Visa Information

Visa Requirements: Visa-free entry for UK passport holders to enter Spain for up to 90 days for tourism and business purposes. All travellers must hold a valid passport.

Recommended Travel Advice

  • UK nationals entering the Schengen zone as tourists may need to provide additional documents at the border.
  • As well as a valid return or onward ticket, it is possible that travellers to Spain may also be asked to show that they have enough money for their stay and show proof of accommodation. More information is available from the Spanish Ministry of Interior (in Spanish).

Entry Requirements

  • Passports must be issued less than 10 years before entering the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • Passport is valid for at least 3 months after the day travellers plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
  • Travellers should check that their passport is stamped as they enter or exit the Schengen area through Spain as a visitor. If using an e-gate, travellers should make sure that their passports are stamped by a border officer.

Hurghada, Egypt

Visa Information

Visa Requirements: British passport holders travelling to Egypt will need a visa to enter the country. Those travelling to Sharm el Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba resorts for up to 15 days will receive a free entry permission stamp on arrival.

Recommended Travel Advice

  • Travellers can apply for a visa from the official Visa2Egypt portal or at the nearest Egyptian Consulate. Tourist visas granted using the e-visa system are valid for a maximum of 3 months.
  • The online e-visa portal (Visa2Egypt) does not currently accept applications from variant British passport holders (those from British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies).
  • All British passport holders can get a visa in advance by submitting an application in person or by post to the Egyptian Consulate in London. The specific requirements for the visa are listed on the website.
  • Visa On Arrival is available at approved bank kiosks within airport arrival halls, before reaching immigration counters. The visa fee is 25 US dollars, payable in dollars as the preferred currency, although travellers may also be able to pay in pounds sterling or euros. Visas granted on arrival are valid for a maximum of 30 days. There’s no need to buy a visa from an agent.
